The bazaars and the boutiques reward completely different budgeting logic. Here's how to decide what goes where before you've spent a rupee.
We don't publish rupee figures on this site — real prices move with the gold rate, the season and the specific piece, and a number printed today is stale by next wedding season. What's more durable is the logic of where a given budget stretches furthest, because that comes down to how each quarter is actually structured, not what things cost this month.
Zaveri Bazaar and Mulji Jetha & Kalbadevi are both rated highest on the Buyer Score's "negotiation room" factor (28% weight, the single biggest of the six) — and that's because the density of competing counters is what creates the room to negotiate in the first place. A budget that has to cover bridal gold and a saree or lehenga fabric will generally go further here than anywhere else on the list, but only if there's time in the schedule to compare two or three counters rather than committing at the first one. Rushed bazaar shopping gives up the exact advantage that makes the bazaar worth visiting.
Bandra's Hill & Linking Road quarter runs on fixed prices and an appointment culture — what a budget buys here is certainty (a known price, a known turnaround, a styled fitting) rather than negotiation room. That's the right trade-off for a piece where fit and turnaround matter more than getting the best possible price — a wedding-day lehenga or sherwani, for instance — and the wrong one for a guest outfit or something more replaceable.
Crawford Market & Lalbaug covers décor, invitation cards and gifting — individually cheap line items that multiply fast once the guest count is locked. It's worth budgeting for this quarter as its own line item rather than an afterthought, precisely because "small and cheap per unit" becomes a real number at wedding-list scale.
