About Bombay Bride
Bombay Bride is an editorial guide and directory to wedding shopping in Bombay, the city now officially called Mumbai. Bombay is the former name, still used colloquially and by the diaspora, and this site covers the same markets and stores under either name.
What the site covers
The guide rates six real shopping quarters: Zaveri Bazaar, Mulji Jetha & Kalbadevi, Dadar–Matunga, Crawford Market & Lalbaug, Bandra (Hill & Linking Road) and Colaba Causeway. It also lists 109 real stores with address, phone, hours and public ratings, an interactive map of every store, a blog of shopping guides, and a seasonal timing guide for when to go.
How markets are rated
Every quarter gets an editorial Buyer Score out of 5, weighted across six factors: negotiation room (28%), hallmark and authenticity trust (24%), range and depth of stock (20%), tailoring turnaround (14%), crowd and timing tolerance (9%) and access and parking (5%). The Buyer Score is applied only at the market level, never to individual stores. The full method is on the homepage.
Where the store data comes from
Store name, address, phone, category and public rating are supplied by the site operator from public Google Maps search data and reproduced as given. They are not independently re-verified, so check hours and details with a store before travelling. Store coordinates are geocoded from the listed address using OpenStreetMap Nominatim and are approximate.
